- sin is the adopted daughter of dinah lance. they first met when dinah and lady shiva swapped places for a year so dinah would receive the same training as shiva (which was often psychologically and physically abusive). sin was a child who was being groomed to be the next lady shiva. despite her young age, she was already an expertly trained martial artist and tactician, considered to be one of the best in the world. they were both trained by a woman simply known as mother.
- when dinah grew tired of this training she decided to leave and took sin with her. mother attempted to stop her but the two fought and dinah won.
- dinah brought sin to metropolis and began to raise the girl as her own, teaching her english and the ways of the western world. eventually, dinah left the birds of prey to raise sin full time. but this began complicated when she rejoined the justice league.
- later the league of assassins attempted to kidnap sin seeing her as a type of "messiah" who could reunite them and be their new leader. in order to protect sin green arrow faked the child's death and kept the truth of it a secret even from dinah as her grief was needed to convince the league. sin was taken to a secluded monastery where she was raised for her protection. dinah was eventually told the truth and would occasionally visit sin at that monastery.
- she sometimes goes by cynthia as that is what dinah named her when they left mother. she had been given the name sin as a way to dehumanize her.
- this version of sin is a grown-up au. she is in her early 20s and has started to leave the monastery to see the real world. much to the dismay of those protecting her.
- she is tired of hiding from the league and has started seeking out information on them.
- she doesn't always know how to act around people having spent most of her life in hiding and seclusion. while in metropolis she did meet several children her own age but she never really became friends with them.
